Fans of The Masked Singer won’t have to wait quite as long as initially expected to see the new season of the show. FOX has announced a special premiere date and revealed some format changes, including the return of Wild Cards.

The Masked Singer Season 10 to Premiere Earlier

Last month, The Masked Singer announced that Season 10 of the show would be premiering on Wednesday, September 27. According to Entertainment Weekly, the new premiere date is Sunday, September 10, following the NFL Double Header.

This special episode will reportedly feature a celebrity performance, clues, and a reveal that FOX is calling “one of the biggest, can’t-miss unmaskings in the show’s history.” The episode will also include unmasked duets from past contestants.

The announced duets will feature Michelle Williams (Butterfly, Season 2) and Rumer Willis (Lion, Season 1), Joey Fatone (Rabbit, Season 1) and Bow Wow (Frog, Season 3), and Victor Oladipo (Thingamajig, Season 1) and Barry Zito (Rhino, Season 3).

After the September 10 episode, the show will take two weeks off before returning for the originally announced premiere on Wednesday, September 27.

The Show’s Format Is Changing Once Again

The Masked Singer has changed up its format quite a few times over the years, and this season is no different. According to EW, the contestants will be split into three groups, with a Battle Royale semifinals episode for each group.

There will be a total of 16 contestants this season, and a few familiar elements from past seasons will be returning. That includes one Wild Card contestant per group, as well as the “Ding Dong Keep It On” Bell. This will return during the semifinals, with the judges getting to save one contestant from elimination and send them to the finale.

Themed nights are also back, with this season’s themes including Trolls Night, Harry Potter Night, Elton John Night, NFL Night, One Hit Wonders, Disco, 2000s Night, I Wanna Rock, and Soundtrack of My Life.

Catch the first episode of Season 10 on September 10 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on FOX, with the competition officially starting September 27 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
