Simon Cowell’s First TV Appearance Was on a Game Show
Entertainment Now recently shared the clip of Cowell’s game show appearance, which has resurfaced on social media (including TikTok) at various times over the years. Cowell can be seen wearing a suit and tie on the show — a contrast to his signature black T-shirt.
Cowell, who was in his early 30s when the episode aired, was introduced as “a record company director from London” who was also “a keen go-kart racer.” When asked about his hobby, Cowell shared that his top speed in a go-kart was about 50 miles per hour.
If you’re wondering how Cowell did as a contestant, he was actually pretty successful. He beat out his two competitors and made it to the final round of the show, where he chose to return for another episode instead of accepting the grand prize.
