The Masked Singer has officially premiered its Season 14 on FOX. Since the show’s premiere, fans have taken to Reddit to share their thoughts on the episode. It’s clear that there’s one outlying criticism of the season so far, clue packages have been ruined with the use of artificial intelligence.
The Masked Singer Clearly Uses AI For The Men in Black
Fans were quick to notice that artificial intelligence was present throughout the night, especially when it came to clue packages. In case you didn’t know, artificial intelligence can be used to create photos, videos, and more using word or photo inspiration. If you know what you’re looking for, it’s quite easy to determine which videos are made in a studio, and which are created by AI.
The use of artificial intelligence can clearly be seen throughout the clue packages throughout the night. Snow Cone’s clue package was one of the most prevalent uses of artificial intelligence of the premiere.
The clue package begins in a hallway, zooming in on a poster that reads “scandal support group.” Then, the “camera” pans to the masked celebrity in what looks like an alcoholics anonymous meeting. Snow Cone is surrounded by various (fake) members of the Men in Black.
The Men in Black, who are known by The Masked Singer fans as a group of men that follow around masked celebrities. They often appear in clue packages, as well as on stage. These beloved characters typically wear a black suit with a black pair of sunglasses.
As the clue package goes on, it’s very obvious that reactions, and clues have been created through artificial intelligence. Everything looks like unlike real life and more comic-like. There’s even a portion where one of the Men in Black doesn’t have a pair of sunglasses on!
Reddit Users Threaten to Boycott The Show
Nearly a day after the show’s premiere, a Reddit user commented on the artificial intelligence clue packages.
“For a show that has spent 13 seasons being all about over the top spectacle and production this AI stuff sucks very much…” a user wrote. “Masked Singer didn’t need AI back then, it sure as hell doesn’t need it now. Maybe they will stop cutting corners and let a human be responsible for this part of the process again because it’s going to entirely poison a really special thing.”
Various Reddit users responded to the original poster. There wasn’t a single comment stating that the clue packages were a good use of the technology. There is a user who admitted the AI clue packages were shown in tapings as a placeholder, but they expected a different package for the real show.
“Boycott the show; we have to show these people that we don’t tolerate it. If they want to cut corners and serve us crap, we need to reject it,” another user wrote.
Another user commented in support saying, “Quality of the show has been in decline for a few seasons now anyway, so them cutting corners on one of the best parts of the show? Nah man. I’m out.”
The next episode of The Masked Singer airs on FOX on Wednesday, January 14 at 8PM ET. Did you notice the use of artificial intelligence during The Masked Singer premiere? Let us know on X!
