In last night’s episode, some contestant’s fates were revealed and we were left on a cliffhanger. Now, we finally get to see the rest of the results including the conclusion to the nail-biting deliberation between standouts Casey Bishop and Alanis Sophia.
Casey Bishop And Alanis Sophia
Alanis performed “Uninvited” by Alanis Morissette. Casey performed “She Talks to Angels” by the Black Crowes. Katy mentioned that Alanis was overdoing it with some of her performances. Luke played it off like only one of them was going to make it through. They were both sent through to the Top 24.
Luke turned to the producers on the night of the duets and said that he pictured Willie wearing a black suit delivering an amazing performance. He did just that during the Showstoppers Round where he performed “I Was Here” by Beyonce. Lionel called the performance “so powerful.” Luke and Katy delivered the news that Willie is in the Top 24.
EmiSunshine, Lizzy O’Very And Camille Lamb
Three singers were then shown in a montage. EmiSunshine sang “Piece Of My Heart” by Janis Joplin. Katy said it was amazing seeing her come to life. But she also said that she did not let go enough. Lizzy O’Very sang “Sign Of The Times” by Harry Styles. Camille Lamb sang “Feel Like Makin’ Love” by Bad Company. Katy believes in Camille but it just wasn’t enough. None of them made it through to the Top 24.
Mary Jo Young
TikTok star Mary Jo Young forgot the lyrics during the Duets Round. She sang “Us” by James Bay during the Showstoppers Round. She knew this would be her chance for redemption. Luke said that Mary Jo does not have the stage presence thing down yet. But she will have a chance to work on it because she is in the Top 24.
Hunter Metts broke down during his judge’s deliberation because this is the chance of a lifetime for him to be on American Idol. Katy predicted that Hunter was going to make it into the Top 10 at his audition. He sang “July” by Noah Cyrus in the Showstoppers Round. Luke told Hunter not to get caught up in the noise and everything around him. Hunter was excited to learn that he made it into the Top 24.
Althea Grace went through a rollercoaster of emotions as her daughter was in the hospital during the Duets Round. For the Showstoppers Round, she sang “We Can Work It Out” by The Beatles. Katy said that this was not the right song for her. Unfortunately, Althea is not in the Top 24.
Ronda Felton And Funke Lagoke
Ronda Felton and Funke Lagoke had an unforgettable duet in the previous round. Funke fell during the judge’s critiques but showed she is a trooper by coming back. In the Showstoppers Round, she sang “Orange Colored Sky.” Ronda sang “All In Love Is Fair.” Both Ronda and Funke were eliminated from the competition.
Grace Kinstler sang “Father” by Demi Lovato for her Showstoppers performance. She dedicated the song to her father who passed away. A fan-favorite from the very beginning, Grace has of course made it to the Top 24.
DeShawn Goncalves performed “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” for his Showstoppers performance. He has been on everyone’s radar since his stunning Duets performance. Lionel enthusiastically delivered the news that he has made it to the Top 24.
Former boyband member Colin Jamieson took a risk and sang “Sugar, We’re Going Down” for his Showstoppers performance. Katy said that he surprised the judges with his performance because it was the first time he didn’t play it safe. Katy also welcomed Colin into the Top 24.
Laila Mach And Ava August
Laila Mach is inspired by American Idol alum Gabby Barrett. She sang “If I Ain’t Got You” for her final performance. Ava August is the youngest contestant in the competition. She took a risk and performed an original song during the Showstoppers Round. Katy said that the song was not yet at its strongest level but Ava did make it to the Top 24. Laila unfortunately missed out on the Top 24.
Nia Renée And Liahona Olayan
Nia Renée sang “A Change Is Gonna Come” for her final performance. She did not make it to the Top 24. Liahona Olayan had a difficult time when her brother was eliminated from the competition. She sang “Me Too” during her Showstoppers performance. The judges were very impressed with this performance and put her through to the Top 24.
Madison Watkins, Alana And Anilee List
‘AGT’ alum Madison Watkins sang “It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World” for her Showstoppers performance. Lionel said that Madison did a “great job” and that she is moving on to the Top 24.
Alana sang “Bust Your Windows” for her final performance. She also is going to the Top 24. Anilee List sang “Ain’t Nobody” and has also made it into the Top 24.
Drake McCain And Cecil Ray
Drake McCain sang Luke’s song “Country Girl (Shake It For Me).” Cecil Ray sang “Beyond” by Leon Bridges. While both country boys gave impressive performances, there was only one spot left. Cecil is in the Top 24 and Drake was sent home.
