One of the early standouts on Season 19 of American Idol is 19-year-old Alanis Sophia. In the new Showstoppers Round, Alanis is taking on “Uninvited” by Alanis Morissette, the artist she is named after. Check out her chilling cover down below.
Alanis Sophia Takes On Alanis Morrissette Hit
Alanis has been a huge standout since the auditions where she sang “Anyone” by Demi Lovato. Her mom joined her in the audition room and told the story of how Alanis Morissette was her favorite artist. She named her daughter after and the pair have a very close relationship. Alanis Sophia has always had big dreams of being on American Idol, and those dreams are finally coming true.
She made it past the duet rounds and was sent on to the Showstopper Round. The judges were excited to hear that she decided to sing an Alanis Morissette song for this performance. After singing the first line of the song, Luke Bryan looked over at Katy Perry with a very impressed look on his face. Lionel Richie will be appearing virtually during this episode. He sat watching the performance with a smile on his face via Zoom.

Alanis turns into a true rockstar midway through the performance and ditches the microphone stand to move around the stage. “I like it,” Lionel said while listening to Alanis sing.
While we do not get to hear the judge’s critiques during this sneak peek video, Alanis has a tremendous stage presence that will no doubt secure her a spot in the Top 24. Fans in the comments section of the video have been praising Alanis and her song choice. “So haunting…this song fits her voice so well,” one fan wrote. “Why did she not get a standing ovation from the judges? This is the best performance I have heard so far this season!” wrote another.
Alanis Is A Talent Show Veteran With An International Fanbase
American Idol is not Alanis’s first talent show that she has appeared on. She previously competed on La Voz Kids when she was 11 years old. During her time on the show, she had the chance to work with coach Paulina Rubio who was the perfect mentor for her. The Puerto Rican singer was one of the runners-up on the show after her amazing performances left the audience speechless.
This allowed her to grow a huge global fan base after many were impressed with her vocal talents on the show. Now, her fans are excited to cheer her on and watch her thrive on American Idol.
