‘American Idol’ Picks Its Top 5 With Some Shocking Eliminations
So, we now know who our top 5 are on the reboot of American Idol. There were definitely some surprises, both of who got through and who did not. We’ll get into that in a minute. What I do know is that that Idol had a rough start but it’s become a hell of a fun show to watch.
This was shocking. While she was singing Manic Monday by The Bangles, (written by Prince), she forgot the words and had trouble getting back on track. She got flustered and hit some not so nice notes. And, alas, Catie’s journey on Idol came to an end and Mel and I are brokenhearted.
Caleb Lee Hutchinson
OK, I was skeptical of Caleb singing Prince’s When Doves Cry. That song is Sexy and I didn’t think he could pull it off, but he did. That was a shock. His Amazed was more his speed and he did it well. Caleb moved on to the top 5.
Cade started off awkward singing Jewel’s Who Will Save Your Soul, which is just a weird choice. Luckily, he did Jungle Love written by Prince and performed by Morris Day and the Time and we saw that old Cade flair. He made it through.
Gabby is probably going to win this show. Not because she’s my favorite but because she has American Idol champ written all over her. She did a great version of Prince’s How Come U Don’t Call Me Anymore and made it her own. She, of course, moves on to the top 5.
Michael J. Woodard
Michael showed last night that he’s not only a great singer but an amazing performer. His I Would Die 4 You was inspired and had everyone going nuts. He may be in the final 2 with Gabby if he keeps it up.
Jurnee is fantastic and she performed Prince’s Kiss, a great song for her as she can show off both her voice and her sexiness. I don’t understand America because they didn’t vote her through. Seriously? Seriously?
I like Maddie a lot and her rendition of Nothing Compares to You was lovely. I don’t know if I would have picked her over Jurnee or Catie but that’s just me. Maddie made it into the top 5.
