American Idol Season 20 star Kenedi Anderson surprised fans by leaving the competition just ahead of America voting. Kenedi posted on social media during tonight’s show that exiting the competition was one of the “hardest decisions” she’s ever had to make.
Kenedi posted on Instagram: “For personal reasons, I’m unable to continue on ‘American Idol.’ This has been one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make, but I know it’s necessary. I’m so grateful to ‘American Idol,’ the judges, the producers, the amazing contestants, and all the fans who have supported me. Thank you for giving me such an amazing opportunity to share my voice, chase my dreams, feel so much joy and happiness doing what I love, and make lifelong friends along the way.”
After the pre-taped Hawaii performance aired, host Ryan Seacrest announced there would be no voting information on the young singer as she has decided to leave the competition.
“This has been one of the best weeks of my life already,” Kenedi said before taking the Idol stage for the final time. “This experience has been overwhelming in the best way possible.”
Kenedi appropriately “Human” by Christina Perri, and received another standing ovation from the crowd.
Platinum Ticket Winner Kenedi Anderson Leaves American Idol
Kenedi first turned heads during her Season 20 audition singing Lady Gaga’s “Applause” while accompanying herself on the piano. The judges were in awe of the 17-year-old who gave her a standing ovation. Judge Luke Bryan even said Kenedi might be “one of the biggest stars American Idol has ever seen.”
In addition to her unique version of “Applause,” Kenedi stood out by performing her original song “This Way,” which propelled her through to the live performances.
Kenedi’s performances earned the second ever platinum ticket. Judge Katy Perry even called herself a “Kenny Cat” to show her support.
I understand it is her choice and was personal but I think we all would like to know what was her reasoning? You don’t just suddenly decide to up and leave this soon and already doing so well! Seems like there is a whole lot more to this story and maybe for legalities she can’t exactly say during the broadcasting idk but something had to have happened!!!!
