Amateur Escape Artist Stuns the ‘Go-Big Show’ Judges
Reading Time: 2 minutes
Go-Big Show Season 2 continued on Thursday night as we witnessed an amateur escape artist performing a dangerous routine that stunned the judges. We’re used to seeing these types of danger acts from seasoned professionals, but Andrew Parker practices in his backyard.
‘Go-Big Show’ Contestant Performs Amateur Escape Act
Andrew is just 23 years old and describes himself as a “YouTube escape artist.” He said he’s performed Thursday’s act less than five times in total, and never on a stage in front of people. He said his talent is a “passion, not a profession.”
The judges commented that Andrew’s set-up for his act looked like a DIY escape stunt. With the help of Jennifer Nettles, he got into a straitjacket and wore blindfolded goggles. He also had a handcuff on his ankle and was weighed down by a cinderblock inside a tank of water.
Andrew went into the tank with a paperclip in his mouth, which he eventually used to pick the lock on the handcuff after freeing himself from the straitjacket. The judges were nervous for him as the timer went longer and longer. He ended up escaping after one minute and two seconds.

The Judges Were Impressed by Andrew’s Act
Andrew said he was at the end of his breath when he finally reached the surface after escaping the straitjacket and handcuffs. His dangerous routine impressed the judges, and when it came time to score his performance, they gave him an 89.
Andrew was up against a magician named Rob Lake, who showed off a dramatic routine in which he levitated his assistant high in the air and then made her disappear. It was a close competition, but Andrew earned a spot in the Semifinals as Rob only earned a score of 87.
Jennifer Nettles said she preferred Andrew’s act because he was “cheating death,” and how can you compete with that? Even Rob complimented Andrew’s talent before he was eliminated.
