Former American Idol contestant Triston Harper recently took to Instagram to share confirmation that he submitted an online audition for the next season of the show. It’s not yet known if producers will select Harper to move forward in the competition.
“So Harpies i did a thing!!!!!” the 18-year-old country singer wrote in the post’s caption, adding the hashtags #americanidol and #round2. Harper previously competed in Season 22, making it was far as the Top 5 before being eliminated.
A fan recently shared the news of Harper’s audition on the American Idol subreddit, expressing surprise that a contestant who made it as far as he did is allowed to try out again. According to the show’s current rules, only winners are barred from competing in another season of the show.
Since his time competing on the show for the first time, Harper has gotten married and welcomed a baby daughter named Brenley with his wife Paris.

Some users argued that more than just the show’s winner should be barred from auditioning again, with one person suggesting, “They should make it so if you’ve reached the live voting you can’t compete again.”

I found him so boring.” Someone else responded, “The only way i will accept this is if he completely switches genres.
