AGT has released a sneak peek of Benicio Bryant performing in next week’s Judge Cuts round, and this time he’s singing an original song. The 14-year-old wowed the judges in his first audition, and now he’s back for a chance at the live shows. Also seen in the video, is the reaction of AGT guest judge Jay Leno.
In the clip, judge Julianne Hough is particularly excited to see Benicio again. “I have not stopped thinking about you since the first audition,” she says, “because you blew me away. I gotta say, it’s a lot of pressure now, because I love you so much.”
Benicio Bryant Performs An Original Song
In his first audition, Benicio performed Brandi Carlile’s “The Joke” without an instrument. This time, he’s playing guitar and singing a song called “Here Goes Nothing,” which he wrote himself. “I’m dreaming of another life / I’m dreaming, and I’m here to fight / I’m dreaming that I could touch the sky,” he sings.
The performance inspired a standing ovation from the judges, including next week’s guest judge Jay Leno who seemed to get emotional during the performance. Benicio’s choice to sing an original song could be good for him, as young singer-songwriters have a history of success on the show. A few weeks ago, singer Sophie Pecora earned the Golden Buzzer from Brad Paisley with an original song.
Who Is ‘AGT’s Benicio Bryant?
Benicio revealed in his audition that he’s been singing since the age of two, and has been watching America’s Got Talent “for so long.” He added, “I wanted to come here so that I could share my music with the world, and I’m so excited.”
The young singer has already appeared on a talent show. He placed second on Germany’s The Voice Kids, having been invited to audition after the show discovered his YouTube channel. He’s also performed more than once with singer Brandi Carlile, including on Late Night With Seth Meyers.
We’ll have to wait until next Tuesday’s new episode at 8/7 c with AGT guest judge Jay Leno to find out if Benicio made it through to the next round.
