Nick Carter Announces Birth of Third Child Despite ‘Minor Complications’

Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter announced the arrival of his third child with wife, Lauren Kitt Carter, on Wednesday. While the proud parents are full of joy over their new arrival, they did experience some “minor complications.”

Nick posted an Instagram picture wearing hospital scrubs with his head in his hands.
“Yes I’m a believer. I ask god to give us strength to protect mommy and baby. #fatherhood #prayers,” he captioned the post.
His Backstreet Boys bandmate, Kevin Richardson, commented heart and prayer hands emojis on the post. While fans grew concerned in the comments section and questioned if something was wrong, he further clarified the situation on Twitter.
“We are proud to announce that our baby has officially arrived,” he wrote. “But as a parent knows all too very well, sometimes things don’t turn out the way you plan it. We have been experiencing some minor complications but things are looking a little better after the first night.”
Nick and Lauren first announced the pregnancy in January with a sonogram video. The pregnancy came as a surprise to the couple who experienced several miscarriages over the past few years.
“I thought I had a tumor because there was just no way that I could be pregnant, from just my medical history and the things that I did to ensure that I just had my two children,” Lauren told People Magazine at the time of the announcement. “Even Nick, like a couple of weeks prior to that, was talking about possibly getting a surrogate, possibly having a third child. It was just something we were talking about.”
The Carter Family is Still at the Hospital After the Birth
A source told ET that the Carter family is still at the hospital. It has been a difficult situation for everyone, but the baby is expected to be fine.
“I wanted to thank everyone for all the prayers and good thoughts during this time” Nick tweeted. “We will keep you updated.”
Nick and Lauren are already proud parents to their 5-year-old son, Odin, and 1-year-old daughter, Saoirse. They have been documenting their excitement for their third child throughout the pregnancy on social media.
Prior to announcing the birth of his third child, Nick posted that he was watching the two-hour episode of The Masked Singer on Wednesday. He wished the contestants luck before two of them were eliminated.
Nick competed on the fourth season of the hit Fox show as The Crocodile. He was an early frontrunner among superfans who picked up on his boyband vibes in the clue packages right from the start. The 41-year-old finished the competition in third place.
He also danced his way into America’s hearts when he competed on Season 21 of Dancing With The Stars. After being a part of the Backstreet Boys, which has sold over 130 million records worldwide since the 90s, Nick has tons of fans rallying around him and his family at this time.
