Grace Holden Auditions For ‘The Voice UK’
Grace auditioned with a performance of “Wherever You Will Go” by The Calling. Olly immediately started mouthing the words along with her, and fellow coach Anne-Marie seemed to encourage him to turn for her.
Olly didn’t turn around just yet. He continued to listen to Grace’s performance, as Anne-Marie said, “Someone has to turn.” As Grace hit high notes toward the end of the song, Olly finally hit his button to turn around for her, automatically placing her on his team.
Afterward, Grace told Olly about her song choice, saying, “I connect to it quite a lot, emotionally. I just thought I’d be able to get it across to you… and I did.”
“It was meant to be!” Olly told her. “You just connected with me. There was something about that performance that made me press that button. It started a bit slow but the layers just kept coming.”
Olly Murs Cries Watching Grace’s Performance
Before Grace’s audition, she spoke about her mother, who passed away from cancer five years ago. “My mum encouraged me to sing anywhere she could and it gave me that confidence,” she said.
Grace’s dad shared, “The woman was amazing. It’s very hard knowing that she should be here and she isn’t.”
Grace’s story clearly connected with Olly, because he posted a video of himself watching the audition on television and tearing up. “It gets me every time watching that,” he said. “What’d you do to me, Grace? Seriously. Amazing audition. Well done.”
Olly also tweeted that Grace’s mother “would be so proud” watching her audition. Grace replied that she “couldn’t ask for a better coach.” You can follow Grace on Instagram and TikTok for more performances.
