Britney Spears is making national headlines again after maintaining a low profile for quite some time. Though the singer has traded in her pop star life for dancing on social media, she is trending for being arrested for a DUI.
Britney Spears Arrested for DUI in California
On March 4, 2026, Spears was arrested for a DUI in Ventura, County, California. The news of her arrest was broken by TMZ. It was reported that the singer was arrested by California Highway Patrol and later released.
Vanity Fair later confirmed that Spears was handcuffed by California Highway Patrol around 9:30 pm and was booked early Thursday morning, around 3am. According to the arrest record, she has been since released. Spears will appear in court on May 4.
Spears’ arrest news comes soon after she was granted a restraining order against a Louisiana man who shared “disturbing social media posts” then showed up at her house. Her Instagram account is currently deactivated, which is common for her. In case you may have missed it, Spears often disappears from social media.
“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable. Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life,” a representative for Spears said in a statement to Vanity Fair. “Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”
The statement continued, “Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being.”
Spears’ Instagram content shows just how dedicated the singer is to heal her relationship with fame. In doing so, Spears often strips down for elaborate dances.
“Interestingly enough, I dance on IG to heal things in my body that people have no idea about. Yup and it’s embarrassing sometimes,” Spears wrote on Instagram recently. “But I walked through the fire to save my life.”
In the past, Spears hinted at the possibility of returning to stage. Though she explained she’ll “never perform in the U.S. again” due to personal situations, she hopes to perform in both the United Kingdom and Australia.
Spears Recently Sold Her Song Catalog
On February 10, 2026, news broke that Spears sold off the rights to her music catalog. According to the legal documents, she sold her ownership share of her catalog to publisher Primary Wave.
According to sources, the music publisher had a “landmark deal.” It’s anticipated that she received more than Justin Bieber, who sold for $200 million deal.
This extensive music catalog is said to include hits “(You Drive Me) Crazy,” “…Baby One More Time,” “Break The Ice,” “Circus,” “Don’t Let Me Be The Last to Know,” “Everytime,” “Gimme More,” “Hold it Against Me,” “I Wanna Go,” and “If You Seek Amy.” The catalog also includes “I’m a Slave 4 U,” “I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman,” “Lucky,” “My Prerogative,” “Oops!… I Did it Again,” “Overprotected,” “Piece of Me,” “Sometimes,” “Stronger,” “Till The World Ends,” “Toxic,” “Womanizer,” and more.
