Some fans watching the Season 21 premiere of America’s Got Talent on Tuesday night might be wondering why Heidi Klum isn’t sitting at the judges’ table. The supermodel actually hasn’t been on the show for a couple of seasons now.
When Did Heidi Klum Leave America’s Got Talent?
Heidi Klum was a judge on AGT from Season 8 to Season 13, and then from Season 15 to Season 19. During the latter seasons, she judged alongside Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, and Sofia Vergara. Last year, Klum was replaced on the panel by Mel B, who returned to the show after several seasons away.
It’s not clear exactly why Klum chose to leave AGT, but it could have something to do with her busy schedule. Last year, the model returned as the host of Project Runway, and she’ll be back for another season of the fashion design competition this summer.
In addition to Project Runway, Klum also hosts Germany’s Next Top Model. However, she’s managed to juggle multiple projects in the past. Deadline reports that Klum’s exit from AGT could have been related to salary.
It’s not known if Klum is interested in returning to Got Talent in the future, but a rep for the show said of the former judge in a statement, “We’d love for our paths to cross again.”
Season 21 of America’s Got Talent premieres Tuesday, June 2, at 8/7c on NBC. This season, the judging panel once again features Howie Mandel, Mel B, Sofia Vergara, and Simon Cowell. Additionally, Terry Crews is back for his eighth season as host.
Two-hour audition episodes will air every Tuesday night for the first several weeks of the competition, before the live shows begin on Tuesday, August 18. Live performance episodes will air on Tuesday nights, while results from the overnight vote will air the following Wednesday nights.
New episodes will also be available for fans to stream the following day on Peacock. Are you sad that Heidi Klum is no longer a judge on AGT? Let us know in the comments below.
