According to NBC, Dolly Parton appeared on The Voice multiple times over the years. She served as a guest mentor in Season 9, performed with coach Miley Cyrus in Season 11, and paid tribute to Blake Shelton with a performance of “I Will Always Love You” in Season 23.

Following the announcement of Parton’s death last week at age 80, Shelton took to Instagram to share a photo of the two of them on the set of The Voice. Parton can be seen sitting in Shelton’s spinning red chair as they both point fingers at themselves.

“I can say with absolute certainty that we are all feeling the same heart brokenness today,” Shelton wrote. “I only got to spend any real time with Dolly when Gwen [Stefani, his wife] and I got to work with her on The Voice.”

Shelton went on to write that Parton was “the EXACT person that you think she is,” adding, “It was like being with the funnest, most loving, most caring and closest member of your family. Truly a loss for the entire world. We love you Dolly.”

During one of Dolly Parton’s appearances on The Voice, she paid tribute to Blake Shelton as he prepared to leave the show. In the Season 23 finale, Parton appeared remotely to sing “I Will Always Love You” and shared a few funny words about the coach.

“The G.O.A.T.,” Parton said. “I’ve come across some real ones in my time. They are social animals, but very stubborn. And they have an accent, and they will literally eat anything. And they are known for their burping. So, I guess you are kind of a goat.”
