Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro recently wrapped up its first season on ABC, as Adele Zaikman was named the winner. According to executive producer Conrad Green, the show could be back for another season in the future — with a few changes.
Will DWTS: The Next Pro Be Back for Another Season?
DWTS executive producer Conrad Green recently spoke to Deadline about The Next Pro. Green was asked if he expects the show to return for another season, in order to find yet another new pro dancer for the main series.
“I think so,” Green replied. “It’s definitely something we’ll talk about with the network. I mean, you’ve got to try and get the balance right that you don’t have so much churn that you’re changing people for the sake of changing people.”
Green said that he believes The Next Pro “could be a really fun companion series” to the main DWTS competition, adding that they “might tweak it” if another season ends up going forward.
“You learn things from when you do a season,” Green explained. “I’d like to see it coming back, because I think it’s been really helpful, just in terms of talent search, keeping up the quality, and making everyone aware that there are great people out there, and we never want to stop finding great people.”
Adele Zaikman was named the winner of DWTS: The Next Pro during Monday night’s finale, meaning she’ll join Season 35 of the show as a new pro. It was announced on Wednesday that Zaikman will be competing with Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Connor Leavitt, husband of Season 34 contestant Whitney Leavitt.
“I think she’s one of the best Latin dancers we’ve had on the show. Full stop,” Green said of Zaikman’s talent. “A lot of our dancers come from ballroom competition to a degree, but they’ve also done lots of other things, and I think that those are areas that are going to be more of a challenge for Adele coming on the show.”
