What is Tennis Pro, ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Alum Martina Navratilova Up to Now?

You might remember Martina Navratilova from Season 14 of Dancing with the Stars. Navratilova is a tennis legend, but she unfortunately didn’t make it very far on the dancing competition. Navratilova was paired with Tony Dovolani for this season, which aired in 2012. They were sadly the first pair eliminated.
Navratilova and Dovolani danced two routines during their time on Dancing with the Stars. During the first week, when there was no elimination, the pair danced the foxtrot to “Is You Is or Is You Ain’t My Baby.” They received a score of 20 out of 30 from the judges.
The next week, the pair danced the jive to “Tell Her About It,” earning a total score of 19 from the judges. Carrie Ann Inaba said she loved the joy Navratilova showed during her performance, but she criticized the technical side of the routine, saying it was too slow for a jive.
Navratilova ended up being the first celebrity contestant eliminated from Season 14 of the show. In an interview after her elimination, the tennis player said it was “devastating,” adding, “I really wanted to last longer, if for no other reason than to hang out with Tony, because we have such a good time.”

In 2016, Navratilova talked about the difference between dancing and tennis. She explained that tennis players lead with the head, which isn’t what you should do in dancing. She added that she “kept trying to lead” during the dances.
Navratilova, who was born in Czechoslovakia, but became a United States citizen in 1981, played professional tennis for over 30 years. She won a total of 59 Grand Slam titles during her career, and she won the women’s singles title at Wimbledon nine times.
In 2014, Navratilova married her longtime girlfriend Julia Lemigova. She proposed to Lemigova, a former model, at the U.S. Open. Navratilova has also appeared in several television shows, including Portlandia. She has a recurring role as Brigitte, a love interest of Gwyneth Paltrow’s character, on the Netflix series The Politician.
