A successful audition is a pivotal part of making it big in any talent show competition. Let’s take a look at what it takes to not only impress the judges, but to leave a highly memorable first impression on any competition show.

Here’s How You Will Shine at Your Audition

An audition could become the beginning of a legendary run or merely a fleeting moment of what could have been. One must strive to achieve greatness from their audition, because it is the first step into possibly becoming a winner.

So what does it truly mean to have a successful audition? To be successful in the audition round does not only mean a contestant passes on to the next round. Subjectively speaking, an audition is considered successful if the contestant manages to impress the judges and viewers.

Being able to shine enough in the auditions to leave a good lasting impression is critical for a higher chance to win. A great example of the previous statement is the Golden Buzzer on America’s Got Talent and it’s other formats. The concept of the Golden Buzzer is to award exceptional performers in the auditions by letting them skip the judge cuts and go straight to the live shows.

Since the introduction of the Golden Buzzer on season nine of AGT, and throughout the eight following seasons after that, six winners received the Golden Buzzer during their auditions. This proves that the judges of the show favor the outstanding performances at the auditions to win the show.

The same mindset should also be practiced in any other competition show. Perform well enough not only to pass the auditions, but to also leave a mark as one of the best of the best performances. That is what it truly means to have a successful audition.

Important Tips to Ensure an Unforgettable Audition

Auditioning for a competition show is undoubtedly nerve-wracking, and a contestant will need each tip and piece of advice that they can get. Probably the most important advice that a contestant can get is to prepare and practice ahead of auditioning.

The most important advice on auditioning from AGT judge Simon Cowell are “be original,” “don’t be boring,” “stand out from the crowd,” and “be fearless.” These tips from the international music mogul don’t just apply on AGT, but also for all types of competitions.

For contestants entering a singing competition, pick a song that best shows off your vocals. It’s also best to have more than one song prepared as the executive may ask to hear another song.

Always dress to impress, wear something that makes you comfortable but follows the rules of what you’re entering. Make the audience remember you by being unique, and incorporate strategies that give you an advantage from other competitors.
