Golden Buzzers from guest judges have made significant changes to the history of America’s Got Talent. Several celebrities have joined the show’s panel of judges and hit their Golden Buzzer for acts that have literally broken the internet.
America’s Got Talent Guest Judges Have Made Impact Through the Golden Buzzer
Through the years, AGT has featured a variety of celebrities that played the role of temporary judge in the Judge Cuts. It’s no secret that guest judge Golden Buzzers are often some of the best, creating some of the most memorable Golden Buzzer moments.
One of the most well known guest judge Golden Buzzers took place in 2015, when Neil Patrick Harris joined the panel as a guest judge in Season 10. The How I Met Your Mother alum left a life-long impression after he gave his Golden Buzzer to magician Piff The Magic Dragon.
The next year, Reba McEntire sat upon the same panel as a guest judge. She ultimately earned the honor of pressing the Golden Buzzer for contortionist Sofie Dossi who used her feet to hit a target with an arrow that was on fire.
The next year, Chris Hardwick made history as a guest judge when he hit the Golden Buzzer for Angelica Hale. In the same season, DJ Khaled pressed his Golden Buzzer for singer, Chase Goehring.
More celebrities gave the Golden Buzzer to deserving acts in later seasons. Laverne Cox hit the Golden Buzzer for kid singer Celine Tam. Meanwhile, Dwayne Wade did the same for V.Unbeatable, Marlon Wayans for ventriloquist Paul Zerdin, and many others.
America’s Got Talent Introduces New Round for Season 21
The show is clearly listening to fan reactions to the series as of recent. After multiple years of fans begging for the return of the Judge Cuts round, The show announced their newest round, Judges Callback. The round, which premieres after the audition round, is set to feature 10 Golden Buzzers, two per judge and two for host Terry Crews.
After auditions, certain acts will be given as second chance to prove themselves to the judges. At this time, it has not been revealed how many contestants will return for the Judges Callbacks, or even how many weeks this portion of the competition will be. Regardless, these contestants will fight for the remaining places in the semifinals.
Although this isn’t exactly the return of the Judge Cuts, it’s pretty close. Like the Judge Cuts, fans will be able to see some acts once again, and more Golden Buzzers will be awarded.
