Riccardo Atherton who is a huge Mariah Carey fan stunned the judges when he first auditioned for The Voice kids UK. He showed off his vocals by performing a very tough song, “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen. Pixie Lott was automatically his biggest fan and could not press her buzzer for him fast enough! Riccardo’s Breathtaking Performance Makes Pixie Lott an Instant Fan
Riccardo Atherton who is originally from Italy had Will.I.am, Pixie Lott and Danny Jones impressed by his strong voice. Danny turned his chair automatically for Riccardo when the 13-year-old began performing, he was cheering him on. Pixie was waiting for him to hit a high note before she pressed her buzzer multiple times for Riccardo. She could not contain herself in her seat because of Riccardo’s talented vocals.
The Mariah Carey fan got all three judges to turn their chairs for him, but he decided to go with Pixie who’s original name is, Victoria which is also his grandma’s name. His grandma he says, is his biggest fan and flew in all the way from Italy just to watch him perform. Pixie decided to go meet her backstage and give her and the family a huge.
Riccardo’s Talent Takes Him to the Finals
Pixie continued being Riccardo’s biggest fan in the battle rounds where she could not contain her tears. Performing “Over the Rainbow” by Judy Garland, all three teens in her group had everyone speechless over the way they sang the emotional song. Even though all three of them did an amazing job she chose Riccardo to continue.
Following the battle rounds, Pixie decides to give Riccardo a song by his idol Mariah Carey. After performing an impressive version of “Vision of Love”, it was obvious that Riccardo has a shot of winning the show. “Singing a Mariah Carey song is not a walk in the park, especially for a guy, it’s like lifting a thousand pounds and you lifted a thousand pounds, congratulations.” Said Will.I.am.
His final performance which was “Beauty and the Beast” by Angela Lansbury made Pixie Lott proud to have him on her team. Riccardo unfortunately did not win the show and lost to Jess Foley but his time on the show will not be forgotten.
