Former The Voice coach Nick Jonas recently revealed that he tried out to be the voice of Kristoff in the Disney animated movie Frozen, which came out in 2013. According to Jonas, he “bombed” the audition.
Nick Jonas Auditioned for Kristoff in Frozen
In a recent episode of the Jonas Brothers’ Hey, Jonas! podcast, the brothers welcomed Frozen stars Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, and Josh Gad. During their conversation, Nick Jonas revealed that he auditioned to voice Kristoff in the original 2013 film.
“I went in, and they said, ‘Okay, what are you going to be singing today?'” Jonas recalled, adding that he didn’t have a song prepared, so he asked them to play “some musical theater song.” He said he “bombed the audition,” calling it “terrible.”
Kristen Bell, who voices Anna in the films, joked, “That must have been why you didn’t get it.” Josh Gad, who voices Olaf, added to the humor, telling Jonas, “You have such better chemistry with Kristen than [Kristoff voice actor Jonathan] Groff.”
Jonas played along with Gad’s joke, saying, “I love Jonathan Groff, but I do think it would have been better to cast me.”
