Top 5 Best ‘Kelly Clarkson Show’ Covers of All Time
5. ‘drivers license’ by Olivia Rodrigo
Clarkson and Olivia Rodrigo are the dream collaboration that we hope actually becomes a reality someday. It was only a matter of time before Clarkson took on one of the most viral songs in the world right now, “drivers license.” She gave off some major folk vibes with her unique arrangement of the song. The way she delivered the last line of the song so softly is heartbreaking. The red lights add so much depth to the performance and the full band in the background also deserves some serious props.
4. ‘Tennessee Whiskey’ by Chris Stapleton
Clarkson’s cover of “Tennessee Whiskey” is smooth just like a good shot of whiskey. One thing this cover does not lack is soul. Clarkson taps into her huge vocal range towards the end of the song with this stunning soulful vibrato. Her voice is loud, powerful, and you can feel every single lyric coming straight from her heart.
3. ‘Breathe Me’ by Sia
While this is Clarkson’s latest Kellyoke cover, it has already left its mark on fans. It’s just her and a pianist up on stage, which creates a special kind of stripped-back magic. Many singers struggle when taking on songs that are in a lower register. Clarkson is one of the few that can perfectly sing low and in the next breath go super high. This is a song Clarkson performed on tour nearly a decade ago and is making us nostalgic with this cover.
2. ‘Say Something’ by A Great Big World ft. Christina Aguilera
When the world was first ailing from the Covid-19 pandemic and some lacked hope, Clarkson gave us all something to look forward to. Her Kellyoke covers in quarantine deserve all of the hype. Her cover of “Say Something” has the most perfect harmonies with her background singer. It would normally be a cover that would make you want to cry, but Clarkson’s voice is so warm and inviting that it makes us so thankful that she was declared the winner of American Idol in 2002.
1. ‘Wicked Game’ by Chris Isaak
This cover of “Wicked Game” is haunting in the best way possible. For a song we have heard covered on talent shows dozens of times, Clarkson does not disappoint with this ethereal version. Some would even agree that Clarkson’s version is even better than Chris Isaak’s. This is one cover that you can have on repeat all day and never get tired of.
