Our girl Cassadee Pope is back with a new album! The season three winner of ‘The Voice,’ announced her upcoming work Thrive on the Kelly Clarkson Show. There, she put on a rocking performance of her new single “What The Stars See.” Pope spills all the tea to Clarkson about what fans can expect from a more pop/punk album.

Cassadee Pope Takes ‘The Voice’ Trophy

Cassadee took The Voice trophy back in 2012 while on Team Blake. However, before coming to the show, Pope was the lead singer of Hey Monday, a pop/punk band from West Palm Beach, Fla. The band formed in 2008, and released their debut album Hold On Tight that same year. The album also produced the singles “Homecoming” and “How You Love Me Now.”

In her audition for The Voice, Cassadee managed to turn all four chairs on the judging panel. The singer performed well week after week, gaining popularity among the viewers. It was her Top 10 performance however, that massively changed the trajectory of her place in the competition. That week, she performed an emotional version of Miranda Lambert’s “Over You.” Co-written by her coach, her powerful rendition of the country ballad reached number one on the iTunes charts.

This knocked Psy’s “Gangnam Style” down to number two, and if you can recall anything from that year, it’s how insanely viral that song was. It was a huge accomplishment for the rising star. From then on, Cassadee began to shift her sound from pop/punk to country, a decision that ultimately landed her the win on season three.

Cassadee Shifts Back to Her Pop/Punk Roots

While her success from The Voice jump started her solo career, Pope has decided to shift back to her pop/punk roots in this new album. Her single “What The Stars See” was the first from the new project to be released to the public. She shared her excitement for this release on social media.

“I am absolutely thrilled to give you my new single “What The Stars See”, she shared in an Instagram post. “I followed my heart on blending my pop/punk influences with my country roots and this is what came to be! I hope you blast it nice and loud and dance around just like I did when I got the mix back! Thank you for your continued support.❤️ “

Nonetheless, Cassadee is taking the bull by the horns this year in her new era of music. She is already teasing the release of yet another single. “Say It First” will be available everywhere in one week.

She is also scheduled to perform at the Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville on August 18th. In the mean time, you can check out her live performance of “What the Stars See” on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
