‘The Voice’ Winner Cam Anthony Celebrates ‘Outrageous’ Experience
On Tuesday night, 19-year-old Team Blake singer Cam Anthony was announced as the winner of The Voice Season 20. This marks the eighth win for coach Blake Shelton, who’s been on the show from the very beginning.
Cam Anthony Does Livestream After ‘The Voice’ Win
“I just wanted to say, thank you all from the bottom of my heart,” Cam told fans at the start of the stream. “This has been an amazing journey, and to be able to experience this with such amazing people has been outrageous.”
Cam shared that he teared up on stage after his win, because he compared how comfortable he feels on stage with “where I came from.” He added that he hasn’t had a chance to “sit in it all” yet, but called this the “end of an era, and the start of a new one.”
The singer also added his mother to the livestream. She held back tears as she spoke about how “dedicated” her son is, sharing that he would be a winner whether or not he got the trophy. She added that she is “so proud” of him, telling him he “put in the work” for every performance.
Cam started tearing up as he spoke to his mother. She said she wished she could be there with him in person to give him a hug. The singer also brought on his brother Carter, whom he described as his “partner in crime.”
‘American Idol’s Willie Spence Congratulates Cam on His Win
Cam received plenty of supportive comments on Tuesday night’s livestream. That includes a message from last season’s winner Carter Rubin, who wrote, “YOU DID IT!”
This season’s American Idol runner-up Willie Spence also left a comment on the video, writing, “So proud … yes!!!” He added several fire emojis to the message. Although Willie didn’t win the show, plenty of fans think he deserved the title. We’d love to see him and Cam collaborate on a song.
Cam’s coach Blake Shelton also congratulated him, posting on Instagram, “Cam, your artistry has shown through all season and your impact to this show will live on for a lifetime.”
