Katy Perry Cries on ‘American Idol’ After Watching Willie Spence Perform
Willie has received a ton of support from the people in his hometown in Douglas, Georgia. Throughout his journey on American Idol, he has made it clear how much his family and supporters mean to him. Willie and his mother had a tearful reunion in his hometown. He put on a special performance for his supporters before returning to California for the live American Idol finale.
Willie sang “A Change is Gonna Come” by Sam Cooke during the first hour of tonight’s final episode. As always, he put his heart and soul into the performance and had everyone more than impressed with his powerful vocals.
Once the song was over, viewers got to hear from Willie’s mother who was out in the audience. She is so proud of her son and so is the entire world. Perry was feeling the motherly love and also started crying as she was giving her critique. She took a second to collect herself and dab her tears with a tissue.
“Seeing you with your mother just melted my heart,” Perry said.
Willie was feeling all of the emotions from the night building up too, shedding tears of his own. He will definitely be moving on to the next two hours of the competition. One member of the Top 3 will be eliminated before any more of the celebrity performances and duets tonight.
Chayce Beckham and Grace Kinstler also received rave reviews from the judges for their performances. America is going to have a tough time deciding on a winner tonight. But Willie’s ability to put so much of his heart into his performances has earned him a huge fan in Perry.
