Carson Daly Makes a Shady Dig at Blake Shelton on ‘The Voice’
Normally, we’re used to hearing all of the coaches making digs at Blake Shelton to try to get under his skin on The Voice. This time, host Carson Daly decided to poke fun at the country superstar during the first night of the Season 20 finale.
Carson Daly Makes Shady Remark About Blake Shelton on ‘The Voice’
Kenzie Wheeler discussed with Daly his decision to sing “Heartland” by George Strait for the finale. Kelly Clarkson commented that she and Kenzie actually have a similar taste in music. She thought it was the perfect song choice for him because of his authentic country sound and tone.
“Blake would’ve never put this much thought into it,” Daly said which made Kenzie and Clarkson laugh.
Shelton and Daly have been doing the show together since the very first season. They are good friends and can joke around with one another without getting offended. This was just another chance to take a shot at Shelton before the season comes to an end.
Shelton was blocked by Clarkson during the Blind Auditions which prevented him from having Kenzie on his team. Since then, Shelton predicted that Kenzie could win the whole thing. Kenzie got emotional talking about his journey on the show and how much his life could change if he is declared the winner.
“Having this opportunity and knowing that I could possibly win this and have a record deal ists pretty insane when you think about it,” he said as his voice cracked a little and tears weld up in his eyes.
Clarkson wanted everyone to feel like they were at a honky-tonk while watching Kenzie’s performance. He definitely delivered an energetic and exciting rendition of the song. It left Clarkson yearning to go out to a bar and hear more live music.
“I’m glad you’re teaching Kelly some country music,” Shelton said to Kenzie as a way of getting his revenge on Clarkson and Daly for talking smack.
