Andreas Kümmert Auditions For ‘The Voice Of Germany’
Andreas performed “Rocket Man” by Elton John for his blind audition. He changed up the song a little bit, making it his own. This impressed the Voice coaches, as they all hit their buttons to turn around within the first minute of the performance.
They couldn’t contain their excitement over Andreas’ performance, falling out of their chairs and hitting their buttons over and over again. They even stepped closer to the stage to marvel at the singer’s voice.
After the performance, each coach approached Andreas to shake his hand or hug him. “You look so real,” coach Samu Haber told him, adding, “I love you. I love you. I’m so happy you’re in the show.”
Andreas chose to join Max Herre’s team. He went on to win the entire competition, and later released his debut album The Mad Hatter’s Neighbour. He’s since released several other studio albums.
Andreas Gives Up His Chance At Eurovision
In 2015, Andreas performed in Unser Song für Deutschland, Germany’s competition to select who would represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest. Andreas actually won this contest, but he turned down the opportunity.
“I’m really not in the right shape to accept this,” Andreas said, choosing to let the runner-up have the opportunity. “I give my title to Ann Sophie.” The audience reportedly booed his decision. Anne Sophie later described it as “mega-brave,” adding, “He listened to his heart.”
Andreas’ most recent album, titled Harlekin Dreams, was released last year.
