Blake Shelton, Keith Urban Tease New Show The Road
According to Us Weekly, the new poster for The Road features Urban and Shelton alongside two contestants on the show, Olivia Harms and Channing Wilson. The series will feature a total of 12 musicians competing as opening acts for Urban at venues around the country.
Country singer Gretchen Wilson is also featured on the show as a Tour Manager. Other country stars, including executive producer Blake Shelton, will also reportedly appear throughout the show’s first season.
The live audiences on Urban’s tour will apparently help decide which artists should advance to the next city, until the last musician standing wins the $250,000 grand prize and a record deal.
Last month, an official trailer was released for the show which offers fans a sneak peek at some of the contestants they can expect to see, as well as the emotional backstage moments.
The Road is scheduled to premiere on CBS on Sunday, October 19, at 9 p.m. ET. The episodes will also be available to stream on Paramount+. According to Us Weekly, the show will temporarily move to 9:30 p.m. ET on October 26 and November 2, to make room for the NFL Doubleheader.
Gretchen Wilson previously told the outlet that The Road is “not just [about] how do you win this competition, but how do you take care of yourself and how do you have the longevity that a lot of it takes to endure in this business?”
Meanwhile, Keith Urban emphasized “the discipline required to do what we do” on tour, adding, “And it’s been great watching Gretchen handle them as well and give really good advice. [She’s] like, Mama Bear in the best way.”
