Former American Idol judge Keith Urban is set to headline a new country music competition series called The Road, executive-produced by Blake Shelton. The CBS series, premiering this fall, gives aspiring musicians the opportunity to open for Urban.

Urban announced his involvement in the series on Instagram Tuesday, telling fans that he’ll be “the headliner helping Blake Shelton find America’s next big star.” He teased that he’ll be playing “a string of shows over the next few week” as part of the competition.
According to TVLine, the show will follow “emerging talents” as they hop on a tour bus to open for Urban at various shows across the country. The Road is executive-produced by Blake Shelton, Taylor Sheridan, David Glasser, and Lee Metzger.
“I spent a lot of my underage life playing in some seedy pubs, sometimes just for the bartender, so I love the idea of throwing artists into a real-world environment to find out if they are artists,” Urban said in a statement. “For me, touring has always been my first love. It’s where the rubber meets the road. But it’s the only road to take if you want to be a performer.”

Fans Can Get Free Tickets to the Shows
Contestants on The Road have not been officially announced yet, but CBS has released a schedule of Urban’s upcoming performances. The first show will be on March 2, in Fort Worth, Texas. The string of performances will come to a close at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on April 2.
Fans can sign up online to potentially receive free tickets to the shows. All attendees must be at least 18 to attend, aside from the show in Oklahoma City, where attendees must be at least 21. According to the ticket page, “A portion of the audience will be randomly selected to participate in voting.”
