‘The Masked Singer’ Recap: Baby Reveal is Not At All What the Judges Expected

Reading Time: 3 minutes

The Masked Singer had a colorful house party-themed episode this week for Group A. The big reveal of Baby at the end of the episode was honestly worthy of a tantrum. The judges were expecting an Oscar-nominated actor or an action star to be revealed. When that didn’t happen, they all looked disappointed. Luckily, a new wildcard performer has entered the completion and is already a favorite.

‘The Masked Singer’ Delivers Lackluster Baby Reveal

The big Baby mystery was finally solved tonight on The Masked Singer. He performed “Meet the Flinstones” during tonight’s episode. This was probably the most bizarre performance on The Masked Singer ever. The song choice was pretty unconventional. I thought he was just trolling and was going to launch into another song halfway through. He committed to the song and you could tell he was trying his best.

Ken Jeong was actually left speechless, which never happens. Baby tooted on stage when talking to the judges. It was the most terrifying five seconds of television ever broadcasted on Fox. He dropped a brief Grease clue on stage and Jenny McCarthy was instantly convinced that it was John Travolta. This was a total diss to Travolta who can actually sing pretty well. Baby received the least amount of votes and Mccarthy changed her final guess to Bruce Willis.

Jeong believed that it was Gordon Ramsay because he is known to throw tantrums. You would think the enormous over-the-top costume meant a Hollywood giant was under the mask. Baby turned out to be Larry the Cable Guy. This was the first season that the judges didn’t mention his name during any of the performances. He has worked with McCarthy in the past.

Truthfully, it felt like everyone in the theater was a bit disappointed. He is not necessarily the top-name actor that everyone thought was under the mask. The Masked Singer has a way of making you think someone really famous is under the mask and then it’s the complete opposite. Larry gets an A for effort in the first-ever human-like costume on the U.S. version of The Masked Singer.

New Wildcard Competitor Makes Nicole Scherzinger Cry

Things have gotten spicy on The Masked Singer with a brand new wildcard competitor. In her clue package, Pepper said she was thinking of ways to not be bland. Something that she did went viral this year. There were so many TikTok clues and hints. She performed an amazing rendition of “Jealous” by Labrinth that left the judges in awe. Just when we all thought Skunk had this competition in the bag, Pepper came out of nowhere.

Pepper’s performance really showcased her amazing voice and control. Scherzinger even broke down in tears. She called the performance “drop-dead gorgeous and stunning.” Pepper made a reference to Olivia Rodrigo’s song “Driver’s License.” Scherzinger guessed that it was Hailee Steinfeld, just like she does every season. McCarthy had to bust out all of her most outrageous guesses like P!nk, Lady Gaga, and Miley Cyrus, all of which are way too busy to be on The Masked Singer.

Skunk also did not disappoint tonight. Confetti fell from the ceiling during her performance of “Midnight Train to Georgia.” Her clue package revealed that she has a connection to Pufferfish who was revealed to be Toni Braxton. Could it be time for a legend to win The Masked Singer? Robin Thicke even said Skunk is his favorite vocalist in all six seasons of The Masked Singer.

Scherzinger thinks it is Tamar Braxton under the mask. Jeong guessed it was Taraji P. Henson. They’re probably both wrong but it’s fun to see what they come up with. It’s clear that Pepper and Skunk are the most consistent vocalists of The Masked Singer Group A. Bull’s Britney Spears tribute was good, but definitely not his best vocals.
