Sinitta Says Simon Cowell Was ‘One of the Worst Boyfriends’ She Ever Had

Simon Cowell’s ex-girlfriend, pop star Sinitta, has spoken out about their relationship. According to her, the longtime AGT judge was “one of the worst boyfriends” she ever had. Despite this, the former couple has still remained close friends over the years.

Sinitta Comments on Her Relationship with Simon Cowell

“I feel like I am forever seen as the person mourning Simon as a boyfriend or husband. I can honestly say he’s probably one of the worst boyfriends I ever had,” Sinitta recently told Woman’s Own magazine, via The Mirror.

The singer went on to say that she wanted to marry Cowell when they were together, but he had “no intention” of settling down with her. As she said, “I adore him and love him, but we’re far better as we are now. We’ve known each other since the mid-80s, so we’ve had so many years to get where we are now.”

Sinitta was the first artist Cowell signed to his record label in the 1980s. She said she and Cowell remain “extremely close,” describing him as like an “older brother” who is “so annoying.” She added that their bond is “a real love-hate relationship.”

Simon Cowell ended up with Sinitta’s friend Lauren Silverman, to whom he’s been engaged since 2021. Cowell and Silverman share a 12-year-old son named Eric. The couple even named Sinitta to be Eric’s godmother.

“Lauren and I were best friends. It was a bit bumpy at the start, because of your best friend and the person you love [getting together] — that’s never going to be a good look,” Sinitta told The Sun about the pair’s romance. “But we dealt with it, and I’m quite proud with how it’s all come up.”
