Shakira Slams Ex Gerard Piqué in New Song
“You go around saying you’re a champion / And when I needed you / You gave your worst version,” Shakira sings on the track, according to Billboard‘s translated English lyrics. She then sings that she “should have thrown you out a while ago.”
Shakira even seems to take a dig at Piqué’s new girlfriend Clara Chia Marti, singing, “I’m too good for you and that’s why you’re with someone just like you.”
“I’m not getting back with you, don’t cry for me, nor beg me,” she sings. “I understood that it’s not my fault that they criticize you / I only make music, sorry that it bothers you.”
Shakira also seems to refer to her tax fraud case, singing that her ex left her “in debt with the government.” She continues, “You thought you hurt me, but you made me stronger / Women don’t cry anymore, they cash in.”

The Couple Broke Up Last Year
Last year, Shakira and Piqué (a Spanish former soccer player) called it quits after 11 years together, amid rumors of a cheating scandal. The couple has two sons together, Sasha and Milan. Recently, Shakira was granted full custody of the kids.
In a New Year’s message to fans, Shakira seemed to suggest that she was moving on from her relationship with Piqué, writing, “Even if our wounds are still open in this new year, time has surgeon’s hands. Even if someone’s betrayed us, we must continue to trust others.”
Shakira reportedly planned to move from Spain to Miami with her kids this month. However, the move might have been delayed due to her father’s health concerns.
