MTV and Paramount+ have officially said “shantay you stay” to RuPaul’s Drag Race and its spin off, All Stars. It’s time to celebrate, because RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16 and All Stars Season 9 have both been greenlit at MTV and Paramount+. Fans of the franchise will have plenty more to enjoy as the show approaches 15 years on the air.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Has Been Renewed for Season 16

According to Variety, a new season of RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked will also premiere after each new episode of Season 16. There will also be new Untucked episodes for Season 9 of All Stars. Drag Race is the most-nominated reality program at this year’s Emmys.

The show’s casting directors Goloka Bolte and Ethan Peterson said they’re looking for contestants “that are going to step up and fight” for the LGBTQ+ community, with Peterson saying the show is “a beacon of hope for a lot of people.”

He added that “in these scary times for our community, it’s important to put people on the show that are going to fight and be examples to help evoke change.” Production company World of Wonder is also doing its part through the ACLU’s Drag Defense Fund.
