Simon Cowell’s replacement on the Britain’s Got Talent judging panel has officially been confirmed by the show as auditions have begun filming for Series 20. TV presenter Bradley Walsh will sit in Cowell’s chair while the judge recovers from back surgery.
Bradley Walsh to Replace Simon Cowell on BGT
Simon Cowell recently underwent back surgery and had to miss several live shows on America’s Got Talent Season 21. As he recovers from the operation, he’ll also have to sit out a number of auditions for BGT Series 20, which just started taping.
There were reports about Cowell’s possible replacement on the panel being TV presenter Bradley Walsh, who hosts a British game show called The Chase and also appeared on the series Doctor Who. Walsh’s involvement has now officially been confirmed by the show.
On Monday, the show’s Instagram account announced that Walsh will be a guest judge this season, alongside regular judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and KSI. Walsh himself also filmed a video of his first day on set.
Walsh showed off the sign with his name, which hangs above the stage beside his fellow judges. As he said, “It’s going very well. I’m enjoying it. And Amanda, Alesha, and KSI are so lovely to work with.”

When Will Cowell Be Back on the Panel?
Simon Cowell will apparently be back on the BGT judging panel later in the season, as the show has reportedly moved the taping of some auditions to January of next year. By that time, Cowell will hopefully be well enough to return to his seat.
The new season of BGT, which is expected to premiere sometime next year, marks the show’s 20th anniversary. That means we could be seeing some famous faces from past seasons returning to the stage to celebrate this milestone.
