Dancing With The Stars is right around the corner. With a release date of September 17, the show has officially begun announcing its first round of celebrity cast members. The first cast member announced is none other than Team USA gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik.

Stephen Nedoroscik (Pommel Horse Guy) Joins Dancing With The Stars Season 33

Gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik is the first of many announcements regarding the next season of Dancing With The Stars. For those who may not know, this olympic medalist rose to fame during the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics as an online meme.

The meme was created because the gymnast was competing in one event for the Men’s All Around Team Final. While he was waiting his turn, he was seen meditating in the background. When it was his turn to perform, he took off his glasses and got down to business. He was dubbed as “the hero America needed” and compared to Clark Kent.

Nedoroscik’s contribution helped Team USA men’s gymnastics win the teams first all-around medal since 2008. In the pommel horse event, Nedoroscik earned a bronze medal.

Nedoroscik Is the First Male Gymnast to Compete on the Show

The 25 year old is making waves in and out of the gymnastics community. He’s also making waves in the Dancing With The Stars community as the first male gymnast to compete on the series. For those who may not know, past female gymnasts include Simone Biles, Aly Raisman, Suni Lee, Shawn Johnson and Mary Lou Retton.

According to the Good Morning America interview, Nedoroscik is “hoping” to bring his pommel horse moves to the ballroom this fall. He more or less confirmed that he plans to mix in his gymnastics expertise into his ballroom dances: “I want to do some flairs. I want to brings some of that gymnastics. Maybe a back flip or a handstand. I wanna have fun with it.”

Given the fact that the celebrity contestant has already been compared to Clark Kent, interviewers asked Nedoroscik if he would be wearing his glasses to dance. It seems like the olympian is open to the idea of wearing them.

“I might have fun with it,” he said. “I’m scared they’ll fly off is the thing. Maybe we can do a gadget to keep them on. Maybe a new pair of glasses to match the theme. That’s what I’m thinking. That would be awesome.”

Dancing With The Stars returns to ABC on September 17. At this time, the full celebrity cast reveal date has not been announced. At this time, the show has already confirmed judges Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli. Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro are returning as the shows’ hosts.
