Phillip Phillips Set to Return to the Stage at The Ridgefield Playhouse
Reading Time: 3 minutes
Phillip Phillips, the season 11 winner of American Idol ,will take The Ridgefield Playhouse stage on August 7. The “Home” singer will perform some of his biggest hits and new songs this weekend in Connecticut. It has been a minute since we’ve heard the name Phillip Phillips, which begs the question, what’s he up to now?
“Home,” “Gone Gone Gone,” and “Magnetic,” are just some of the hit songs on the concert’s line up. Phillips will also be showcasing some hidden gems alongside his guitarist Errol Cooney, and cello player, Dave Eggar.
Season 11 Idol Winner Back in Concert
We first met the unique singer when he auditioned for American Idol in 2012. He took the floor in front of judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, and Steven Tyler. The Aerosmith frontman sensed there was something special about Phillips before he even began to sing. It wasn’t just that his name was so nice, you had to say it twice. The season 11 champion wowed the judges with original renditions of Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition,” and Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” His ability to stand out from the crowd launched him long and far in the competition.
In Hollywood week, he was shown singing James Brown’s “Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag,” with his group. In the top 25, he sang “In the Air Tonight,” by Phil Collins. This placed him in the top five for the boys that week, making him a top 13 finalist. After a number of spectacular performances, he found himself in the top three. His performance of “We’ve Got Tonight” by Bob Seger secured the win and changed his life forever.
Phillips Becomes a Dad
While performing live music will always be one of his greatest loves, it can easily be moved into second place following the birth of his son. Back in November, the singer welcomed his first born child, Patch Shepherd Phillips into the world. He is now quick to post a number of adorable family photos alongside “little Patch” and his wife, Hannah Blackwell. Phillips posted a heartfelt post on Instagram to honor his son’s first birthday.
“If you think life is fast now, wait until you have a kid and experience that first year. It goes by WAY too fast. This little boy has hit me hard with a love that is so different than any other love I’ve felt. He really is the sweetest, funniest, and most expressive little guy I know. I promised him and his momma to be the very best dad I can be to him and I will continue to do so. We hope you always know and feel the love I have to offer to you, Patch. I can’t imagine my life without you and I can’t wait for many more birthdays with you. Happy 1st birthday, buddy!” He shared.
Alongside being a successful recording artist and live performer, the artist is also committed to becoming a successful dad. Who knows, maybe his son will follow in his father’s musical footsteps. In a TikTok video shared by Phillips himself, he captures a special moment of his son singing along to one of his songs.
Tickets are available now to see Phillips live in concert this weekend. Maybe he will decide to bring his mini-me on stage with him.
