NYC Mayor de Blasio’s Daughter Ciara Arrested At BLM Protest As Calls For His Resignation Rise
New York City mayor Bill de Blasio’s 25-year-old daughter, Chiara de Blasio was arrested during a protest in the city as per local reports.
The New York Post has cited local law enforcement sources and reported that the mayor’s daughter was arrested for unlawful assembly the night before. She was allegedly arrested after she and other protesters refused to unblock a street in Manhattan.
The city saw the third day of protests continued over the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man who died last week shortly after a Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck during an arrest.
Why Is De Blasio Resign Trending On Twitter?
Over his Tweets, de Blasio is being asked to resign with one Tweet calling him out for his insensitivity saying “Hey @NYCMayor the Sergeants Benevolent Association just doxxed your daughter. Do you still think they are the good guys in this?”
His Tweets have infuriated Twitter, one Tweets goes on to correct him, “Disgusting. Let’s reverse that. Any police officer who tries to take the humanity away from another human being because of their color is a racist who devalues people of color and particularly black men in America. #Deblasioresign“
The arrest came about an hour before Hizzoner told protesters it was time to “go home.”
“We appreciate and respect all peaceful protests, but now it is time for people to go home,” de Blasio said at a press conference at 11:30 p.m. at the NYC Emergency Management headquarters in Downtown Brooklyn.
“If you went out peacefully to make a point about the need for change, you have been heard and change is coming in the city. I have no doubt about that. It’s time to go home so we can all move forward.”
On Sunday, the mayor declared that anarchist agitators with an “explicit agenda of violence” have co-opted police-brutality protests for destruction.
“It is a small number of people. It is well organized, even though many of the people are associated with the anarchist movement,” de Blasio said in a City Hall press briefing of the outside opportunists he blamed for the now-nationwide demonstrations devolving into chaos.
“Some come from outside of the cities. Some are from inside the city. Some are from the neighborhoods where the protests take place. Some are not,” he continued, without detailing where the interlopers were from.
