Former American Idol judge Nicki Minaj is speaking out against the Grammys for reportedly moving her hit song “Super Freaky Girl” out of the rap category and into the pop category. Minaj has complained that this puts the song at a disadvantage.

Nicki Minaj Speaks Out Against Grammys

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Minaj submitted her song “Super Freaky Girl” to the rap categories at the Grammys. However, the Recording Academy’s rap committee reportedly overturned this decision, instead putting the song in the best pop solo performance category.

Minaj took to social media to speak out against the decision, arguing that Latto’s “Big Energy” should also be moved to pop. As she said in an Instagram video, “Why is the goalpost only ever moved when it’s Nicki? Well, I’ll tell you why. They don’t want the people that they have in the industry to go up against me.”

This also led to a Twitter feud with Latto herself, who called Minaj “a 40-year-old bully.” Minaj called her a “Karen.” She recently took to Instagram stories to further address the situation, particularly the news that the Grammys reportedly put her song “Do We Have a Problem?” in the rap category.

Minaj claimed that the Grammys is “having blogs post that I pulled a ‘stunt’ and that it worked b/c DO WE HAVE A PROBLEM is being submitted in rap categories. But what does SFG have to do with DWHAP?”

Is Minaj Planning to Sue Over This?

Minaj continued on Instagram stories Tuesday by writing that the Grammys moved “Super Freaky Girl” to the pop category “to remove me from the category that they don’t want COMPETITION in.” She added that “certain members are AFRAID to keep” the song in the competition.

The rapper followed this up by writing, “And don’t worry those add’l lawsuits are going out this week.” Is Minaj planning to sue the Grammys over this? Or is she referring to a recent lawsuit she filed in September against gossip blogger “Nosey Heaux”?

Minaj appears on the new cover of Interview magazine, in which she chats with Jada Pinkett Smith. The rapper said of the “Super Freaky Girl” success, “I wasn’t sure how I was even feeling about having to put out an album this year, but that song happening and people liking it, that made me happy. People have gone through so much recently that they want to have fun. It’ll probably expedite the album to come out this year.”
