The Masked Singer host Nick Cannon took to Instagram earlier this week to share a tribute to his late son Zen, on what would have been his fourth birthday. Zen tragically passed away of brain cancer in 2021.
Nick Cannon Honors Late Son Zen on Fourth Birthday
Cannon welcomed son Zen with model Alyssa Scott in June 2021. Sadly, Zen was diagnosed with brain cancer and passed away in December of that year, at just 5 months old. This week marked what would have been Zen’s fourth birthday.
In a video posted to Instagram, Cannon can be seen speaking to the camera about a new candle being sold in Zen’s memory. In partnership with the candle company ReisFields, the Zen’s Light Foundation is launching a “Celebration of Life Candle.”
“Every purchase goes directly to supporting families affected by childhood cancer and other diseases,” Cannon wrote in the post’s caption. “Join me in remembering Zen today and helping us bring comfort and hope to those in need.”
Cannon says in the video that he and Scott “turned our pain into purpose” by founding the Zen’s Light Foundation after their son’s death. The star ended the clip by wishing a “happy birthday to my son.”

Cannon, Scott Also Share a Daughter
About a year after Zen passed away, Cannon and Scott welcomed a second child together in December 2022. Their daughter is named Halo Marie Cannon. Scott also has an older daughter named Zeela from a previous relationship.
Over the years, Cannon has welcomed 12 children with six different women. His oldest kids are twins Monroe and Moroccan, whom he shares with his ex-wife Mariah Carey. He also has three children with Brittany Bell, three children with Abby De La Rosa, one child with Bre Tiesi, and one child with LaNisha Cole.
Cannon has not welcomed any new children into his family since 2022, although he doesn’t seem to have ruled out having more kids in the future. When asked if he wants to further expand his family in an interview last year, Cannon responded, “Why not? I like the dozen right now, though.”
