American Idol has shared an early release audition from Monday’s new episode of Season 24, featuring an audition from a singer named Trace Casanova. He entertained the judges with a unique cover of “Baby Got Back.”
American Idol Shares Early Release Audition
In an early release clip from Monday’s show, singer Trace Casanova introduces himself as a 22-year-old lounge singer from Charlotte, North Carolina. When judge Carrie Underwood asked if that is his “God-given name,” Trace replied, “Oh, no.”
Trace went on to share that he “was raised by bikers,” which explains his leather vest. He paired the edgy piece with a colorful bowtie. As he said, “My motto is, I take my career seriously, not myself.”
For his audition, Trace started with a lively cover of “Wild One” by Jerry Lee Lewis. He invited Underwood to dance with him as he sang. Afterward, judge Luke Bryan called for an encore. Underwood and fellow judge Lionel Richie agreed.
For his second song, Trace chose to sing a crooning version of “Baby Got Back” by Sir Mix-a-Lot. Bryan was especially into the performance, singing along as Trace performed. We’ll have to find out during Monday’s new episode if the panel liked it enough to give Trace a Golden Ticket.
