Torrin Cuthill was recently named the winner of the fifth season of The Voice Kids UK. Torrin competed on new coach Mel C’s team when the show was filmed last year. The singer is now 15 years old, and she already has a pretty impressive career under her belt.
Torrin Cuthill Wins Season 5 of ‘The Voice Kids UK’
Torrin is from Oxfordshire in England. She auditioned for The Voice Kids UK with a cover of “Days Like This” by Van Morrison, turning only Mel C’s chair. She then performed “Proud Mary” with her team members in the Battles, which earned her a spot in the Finals.
In the finale, Torrin performed “Auld Lang Syne.” She ended up winning the entire season, but had to wait nine months to share her victory with the world, as the finale was filmed back in March of 2021. Torrin reacted to her win on Instagram, calling her time on the show “an incredible journey.” She said winning the show was “truly beyond my wildest dreams.”
Torrin shared in a Q&A with fans on Instagram that her whole family lives in Glasgow, so performing “Auld Lang Syne” was special to her, as it’s a Scottish song. Although Mel C. picked it for her, Torrin said the song “means so much to me and my family.” As she wrote on Instagram, “I hope I did Scotland proud!”
The singer also shared that music has been her “escape from a lot of stuff.” She began by playing guitar, and she started singing from there. She’s also a songwriter.
