Meet the Brick Experts of LEGO Masters Season 2
Reading Time: 3 minutes
LEGO Masters took primetime by storm and as the number one new reality competition show last year. It’s been a long break, but the season two premiere is just days away. With a new season comes new challenges and a new pool of competitors seeking the title of LEGO Master. Host Will Arnett and the judging team of Jamie Berard and Amy Corbett return for the adventure. Here’s a quick introduction to the trio and their qualifying LEGO credentials.
Host Will Arnett
The one person who probably needs no introduction is Will Arnett. You may best know him as Gob Bluth from the hit series Arrested Development or heard his voice in various animated movies and shows like Bojack Horseman. His voice acting work puts him at the top of the list for suitable hosts of a LEGO competition since he is the brooding voice of LEGO Batman.Â
While he might not be an ace LEGO builder, he’s been the LEGOized caped crusader in The LEGO Movie franchise since day one. He’s even gotten his own spin-off film with The LEGO Batman Movie. There is no other actor who has spent more time as a minifig than him.Â
Brickmaster Jamie Berard
The judges’ names may not ring any bells unless you are an AFOL (Adult Fan of LEGO.) Unlike Arnett, these judges are experts with LEGO, literally. The “brickmasters” as they are known, are two leading product designers for the LEGO Group and have helped create countless LEGO sets.
Amongst the AFOL community, Berard is the equivalent of a celebrity. He is a well-known LEGO builder that has competed and displayed his own creations at conventions. Berard showed so much talent with LEGO he was later recruited to join their design team.Â
Since joining LEGO Berard has helped to create numerous of their Architecture and Creator sets. He even was the lead designer of the 2019 Toy of the Year, the LEGO Creator Expert Roller Coaster.Â
Brickmaster Amy Corbett
While she might not have the same level of brick building experience as Berard, Corbett is a brickmaster in her own right. Her LEGO journey took a different path.Â
The native of Scotland studied product design engineering at the University of Glasgow. A short time after graduating she landed a job as a junior designer working on the LEGO Friends lines. The sets she helped design have sold millions.
Today, Corbett is a LEGO senior design manager leading a team of 10 designers. She continues to look at how to innovate LEGO play and launched LEGO Dots last year. The new concept uses tiles to allow for two-dimensional pattern making on everyday items like picture frames and wristbands.Â
