The Masked Singer has brought more twists than ever! And the latest one is the Wildcard: the Orca. He brought quite the stage presence and voice, leading the panelists to think he could be a comedian or a pro singer.

But is he a professional singer? Or someone goofier? Let’s look at all the clues and our prediction for The Masked Singer Orca!

Clues on The Masked Singer Season 5

The Orca’s first clue package was all at “Orca’s Piehole,” a pizza restaurant. We see a menu with “Lemon Pizza $9, Orange Pizza $4, Pumpkin Pizza $9” written on it. When Orca was 24, he explains that he was closer to becoming a “punchline” than a “big star” and gets tomatoes thrown at him. His dad told him to “make waves” by the time he was 25 or he had to move on. “The clock was ticking,” he says at a clock spins around to 2:59. Next, the shot pans to a VHS tape.

Orca improvised by hiding his audition tapes into boxes of pizza and delivered them “all around the town.” At the 11th hour, he accomplished his dreams. An eagle swoops Orca up and delivers him to a bowl of candy on a boat. Now, he’s gonna “blow up” the competition. Orca says “call to order our killer special, extra large and extra anchovies” while the screen says “VISIT US 1313 MELVILLE COURT.”

The panelists have guessed that the Orca could be the Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, Smashing Pumpkins singer Billy Corgan, or Kevin Bacon. A lot of people online agree it could be Dave Grohl! Other popular guesses on social are Adam Sandler, Rami Malek, Mark McGrath, and Dane Cook.

Some very specific clues helped point us in the right direction here. In addition to that stellar voice! So the Orca can be no one else but…

Mark McGrath from Sugar Ray!

Like we mentioned, some of the clues are just too perfect. For instance, the 2:59 on the clock is 14:59 in military time, which is the name of a Sugar Ray album. Talking about the audition tapes in pizza boxes also checks out. Sugar Ray’s producer/marketer behind the scenes, McG, has said that they snuck a music video in a pizza delivered to the head of a record company. In fact, he credits that with Sugar Ray getting their record deal when Mark McGrath was around 25 years old.

There were also many clues pointing to Orange County, where Mark lives. We saw a 9-4-9, which is the area code there and “orange” mentioned on the menu. A few clues alluded to Sugar Ray’s hit “Fly,” like when an eagle picked up Orca and flew away and when he said “all around the town,” an obvious twist on the lyric “all around the world.” He also claimed to be a “killer” and said “extra” multiple times, which makes sense because Mark has hosted Killer Karaoke and Extra.

Finally, the nail in the coffin here was the “1313 Melville Court” clue. M is the 13th letter of the alphabet, so that is referencing Mark McGrath’s initials, MM. It’s all just too perfectly aligned! And with the voice, that sealed the deal for us.
