With a heart for spreading messages of hope, singer-songwriter Lauren Daigle recently released her highly anticipated self-titled album on May 12. The ten-song record, produced by the talented Mike Elizondo, marks Daigle’s first release through Atlantic Records, in partnership with her longtime label, Centricity.

Lauren Daigle’s New Album Tops The Christian Albums Chart

It comes as no surprise that the self-titled album soared to the top of Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart. The album garnered an impressive 25,000 equivalent album units in the United States from May 12 to 18, including 20,000 in album sales.

The lead single from the album, “Thank God I Do,” continues to dominate the charts. It claimed the top spot on the streaming, airplay, and sales-based Hot Christian Songs chart for a second consecutive week. This achievement marks Daigle’s sixth number-one single.

Daigle’s new album follows the massive success of her previous record, “Look Up Child,” which captured the hearts of listeners worldwide. “Look Up Child” held the number one position on the Top Christian Albums chart for an unprecedented 102 weeks, setting a new record.

Its crossover hit, “You Say,” reigned atop the Hot Christian Songs chart for an astonishing 132 weeks starting in July 2018. The song also reached number one on the Adult Contemporary chart for two weeks and held the Christian Airplay crown for 18 weeks.

Lauren Daigle’s New Album Is Split In Two Parts

When asked about her decision to split the album into two releases, Daigle explained that she wanted to ensure listeners wouldn’t feel fatigued by the extensive tracklist. Daigle believes that loyal fans will be excited to experience two albums instead of one after a five-year gap.

Working with producer Mike Elizondo proved to be a dream collaboration for Daigle. The creative freedom she had during the recording process allowed her to explore new melodies and contribute to various creative elements. The album was recorded with all the musicians in the same room, capturing the essence of old-school music-making.

With her soaring success, there is undoubtedly pressure for Daigle to replicate the massive hit that was “You Say.” However, she remains steadfast in her commitment to not let comparison inhibit her creativity. Daigle emphasized the importance of blocking out the noise and staying present at the moment to forge her path forward.

Daigle’s fans hold a special place in her heart, as they are the most important component of her musical journey. When she hears stories of how her music impacts individuals, she internalizes them and strives to give voice to their experiences. Daigle cherishes the opportunity to provide encouragement and support through her songs, allowing her listeners to find solace and strength.
