Carrie Underwood Joins Hannah Harper at Grand Ole Opry
On Tuesday, Hannah Harper made her Grand Ole Opry debut in Nashville. During her performance, former American Idol winner (and current judge) Carrie Underwood made an appearance. Underwood joined Harper for a performance of “String Cheese.”
Harper sang this original song, which was inspired by her experience with postpartum depression, in her Idol audition. The performance went viral, as fellow parents shared how much they related to Harper’s lyrics.
Country Now posted a video of the pair’s performance, as well as a clip of Harper explaining the song’s meaning. She said it can be “overwhelming” to be a mom of three, but added that there’s “no place that I’d rather be.” Harper shared that she wrote the song for herself and “never thought the world would hear it.”

Harper became emotional during Tuesday’s Grand Ole Opry performance, as she reflected on how much it meant to her that she got to perform at such an iconic venue.
“Let me tell you something about standing on this wood right now, I feel like there’s power coming through my boots,” Harper said. “This is a floor where so many legends stood on, and last year, I was sitting on my couch hoping and praying I’d have the opportunity that I get to share my original songs with the world.”
Harper isn’t stopping at the Grand Ole Opry. She’s gearing up to start performing on her String Cheese Tour soon, and this fall she’ll join American Idol Season 10 runner-up Lauren Alaina as a special guest on select tour stops.
