Lauren Alaina Drops New Song Leading Up to ‘Secret Celebrity Renovation’ Appearance

American Idol runner-up Lauren Alaina just dropped a new song. The Georgia native released the lyric video for “It Was Me” today on YouTube. The Country star dropped the single in anticipation of her upcoming album Sitting Pretty On Top Of The World. Along with new music, Alaina will also be featured on Secret Celebrity Renovation on August 6.

The audio of “It Was Me” was accompanied by a lyric video on YouTube. This emotional ballad, shows off Alaina’s vocal range in a traditional Country style. In the song, she painfully sings of the traits that come along with having a broken heart. She tells a story to her listeners, vulnerably admitting her struggles with self love.
“But if I’m being honest boy, I wasn’t being that honest boy, had some ghosts in my closet I had to set free, had to unpack the baggage boy, yeah I had to drown out all the noise, so I could see that it wasn’t you I didn’t love, It was me,” she sings in the chorus.
Alaina was just 15 when she auditioned for season 10 of American Idol. As one of the youngest contestants during that season, Randy Jackson encouraged her talent. In her pre-audition interview, she revealed that it was her cousin, Holly, who encouraged her to start singing. After her cousin was diagnosed with a brain tumor, Alaina dedicated her time and talent to raising money for her treatment. She quickly became a judge favorite throughout the season, and even sang alongside Carrie Underwood in the finale.

Now, she will be able to give back to her in grand gesture. The episode will air on CBS and will be available to stream on the CBS app and Paramount +.
Along with her success in music, Alaina has also announced her acting debut. This fall, you can catch her on the Hallmark Channel in he romantic comedy “Roadhouse Romance.”
