This week marked the semi-finals for both American Idol and The Voice, but how did that translate into ratings? Once again, American Idol was top dog on Sunday night. The semi-finals episode had 7.87 million viewers and a rating of 1.2. This, along with the 1.0 from lead-in program America's Funniest Home Videos led ABC to an easy Sunday primetime victory. The Voice was Monday night's most-watched primetime program with 7.69 million viewers. (The only other show to surpass 7 million viewers that night was the Bull finale on CBS with its audience of 7.19 million people.) However, it came in third place ratings-wise with a 1.1, behind the respective 1.3's from 9-1-1 on FOX and The Bachelorette on ABC (with the former winning the night due to higher viewership). On Tuesday night, The Voice was the highest-rated show in its timeslot with a 1.0, and the second highest of the night behind NCIS's 1.1. But it was third in total viewers, with 6.56 million viewers vs. 11.70 million for NCIS (11.70 million) and FBI (8.56). Despite the fact that The Voice hasn't been the consistent Monday and Tuesday night leader for weeks now, it's still strange to see the show "defeated" by that many others. It's looking like American Idol may be crowned as the most popular talent show of the season after all...
