Kelly Clarkson has released the official music video for her song “Broken & Beautiful” from the movie UglyDolls. In addition to featuring her animated character Moxy, the video also includes a cute appearance from Kelly’s 4-year-old daughter River Rose.
The video shows Kelly getting ready for a performance. She wears a beautiful gown, sings into the mirror, and dances around the room, while River hangs out with her and helps her put on makeup. All the while, Kelly’s UglyDolls character Moxy tries to sneak into the venue, with security chasing her backstage.
“Broken & Beautiful” was co-written by Pink, and produced by Marshmello, who also makes a cameo in the video as one of the Ugly Dolls. The message of the song is to accept yourself and your flaws, and to find someone who doesn’t try to fix you. The theme fits well with Kelly’s body-positive image.
According to Entertainment Tonight, Kelly will perform the song live when she hosts the Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday, May 1, on NBC. Meanwhile, you can listen to the entire UglyDolls soundtrack (featuring Kelly’s fellow Voice stars Blake Shelton and Bebe Rexha) when it drops this Friday, April 26.
Kelly also appears on several other songs on the movie’s soundtrack, including one called “Unbreakable,” which was used in the trailer. The song also features Kelly’s co-star Janelle Monáe.
Blake, Bebe, and other famous voices also appear as characters in UglyDolls, which is out in theaters May 3. Kelly’s character Moxy is a doll from Uglyville who leads her friends to a town called Perfection, where they don’t exactly fit in.
“Literally, I’m not acting,” Kelly told Ellen DeGeneres of her role in the film, saying she’s a lot like her character. We can’t wait to find out more.
