Listen To Kelly Clarkson’s New Song ‘Broken & Beautiful’ From ‘UglyDolls’

Earlier this week, Kelly Clarkson announced that she would soon be releasing a new song. The track, called “Broken & Beautiful,” is out now, and there’s a lyric video to go along with it.

The song comes from the soundtrack to the upcoming movie UglyDolls, inspired by a line of toys by the same name. Kelly voices the film’s main character, a doll from Uglyville named Moxy. She leads her friends to a town called Perfection, where the dolls from Uglyville don’t quite fit in.

The movie is a bit of a who’s who of stars from The Voice. Not only is Kelly voicing the film’s protagonist, but fellow coach Blake Shelton and The Comeback Stage coach Bebe Rexha also provide voices.

“Literally, I’m not acting,” Kelly recently told Ellen DeGeneres of her role in the film, saying she’s similar to her character.

“Broken & Beautiful” sends an empowering message of self-love. “I know I’m superwoman / I know I’m strong / I know I’ve got this / ‘Cause I’ve had it all along,” Kelly sings. In the chorus, she sings, “Can someone just hold me? / Don’t fix me / Don’t try to change a thing.”

The first thing I thought when I heard this song was that it sounded like it could be from Pink. Not only does it have a sound similar to her music, but the message is similar to songs like “Fuckin’ Perfect” A few commenters on YouTube mentioned the similarity as well. As it turns out, that’s because Pink actually co-wrote it!

Kelly has several songs on the UglyDolls soundtrack, which will be released on April 26 and can be pre-ordered now. One of the songs, called “Unbreakable,” can be heard in the movie’s trailer below. It features both Kelly and Janelle Monáe, who voices a character named Mandy in the film.

Uglydolls, which also features voices by Nick Jonas, Pitbull, and Charli XCX, is out in theaters May 3.
