Kelly Clarkson recently announced that she was postponing the start of her new Studio Sessions residency in Las Vegas in order to rest her voice. Many fans expressed their disappointment that the cancelation happened on such short notice.
Kelly Clarkson Postpones New Las Vegas Residency
Kelly Clarkson was set to kick off her second Las Vegas residency, titled Studio Sessions, at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Friday, July 4. However, the day of the first show, Clarkson posted an announcement on her Instagram letting fans know that she would have to postpone the first two dates. The residency will now open on July 11.
The singer wrote that she was “devastated” to have to postpone the shows, explaining that the “prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice.” She added, “I want the shows to be perfect for y’all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve.”
Many fans expressed their disappointment in the comments, sharing that they didn’t receive notification of Friday’s cancelation until shortly before the show was set to begin. One commenter said they spent $700 on a flight and $1,000 on a hotel stay.
Another commenter pointed out, “The crazy part is there isn’t even an apology in this post.” Someone else mentioned the fact that earlier that same day, Clarkson had posted on Instagram sharing her excitement for opening night.

Is Clarkson Dealing with ‘Hidden Battles’?
Although Clarkson’s announcement listed needing to rest her voice as the reason for postponing the shows, sources are suggesting that there could be something else going on with the singer. A new report from Page Six suggests that Clarkson is dealing with personal issues.
“Kelly’s personal life is so insanely complicated,” a source told the outlet. “Kelly is fighting some serious hidden battles that very few people are privy to … it’s a source of emotional and therefore physical distress for her.”
It’s not clear if Clarkson’s recent show cancellations are at all connected to the fact that she also missed several episodes of her eponymous talk show earlier this year, with various celebrities stepping in to guest host.
Another source told Page Six that Clarkson is “on thin ice” when it comes to her vocal health, explaining, “She’s an incredibly powerful singer, but it takes its toll on her vocal cords and she’s come incredibly close to needing surgery before.”
